Packed ice bricks in Preview 26.70.21

Turn packed ice into packed ice bricks, then into slabs, stairs, walls and chiseled packed ice bricks. They do not melt, and a pickaxe mines them fastest. Some details (the block name, instrument sound, Creative-inventory position and waterlogging) are listed as known issues still being fixed.

More of the ice caves drop: Ice Ball damage changes, Brittle Ice and Crevasse updates in Ice Caves, ambient sounds over frozen rivers and oceans, and several mob tweaks.

How to try Minecraft Preview

Install Minecraft Preview (Bedrock) on Windows, Xbox or mobile and open a new test world — previews can break worlds, so do not use your main save. The full drop (Bedrock 26.70 / Java 26.4) is planned for later in 2026; no exact release date yet.
